Kaidou's crew are amazed that the beaten Luffy withstood the Emperor's hit in the first place. As Law darts in to carry him off, Hawkins skewers his arm with a Seastone nail, mentioning that the mineral is dug up and purified only in this land, then converts his weapon into straw. Now sobering, Kaidou orders the defiant Luffy caged, sure the rookie will become a useful follower once his spirit gives way, and demands the papers say nothing of a foreign pirate. When guards close in, Luffy's Supreme King Haki knocks them out cold, and Shutenmaru identifies the power as one Oden once wielded. Irritated by how widespread the ability seems to be, Kaidou reverts to his dragon shape and takes off to keep drinking.

Retreating into the woods, Law worries over his crew and allies, while Hawkins, informed of the getaway, takes it in stride and pledges to hunt him down eventually. Across in Okobore Town, Kin'emon observes Tsuru caring for a villager and concedes his wife is still beautiful, though he refuses to go to her until Oden's aims are achieved.

Among the wrecked castle grounds, Kiku is thrilled the men pulled through, as Sanji had rushed the women to safety while Shinobu used her Juku Juku power to ripen the earth into a pit that swallowed and spared the others. Down in Udon, a jailer serves a poisoned, boneless fish to an unnamed captive who lives on despite it, and when a guard lashes out at the taunted Luffy, that captive spits a fish skeleton straight into the man's throat. Luffy is then flung into a cell adjoining Kid's, and the two vow to make Kaidou pay before catching sight of one another.

It comes to light that Seastone has its origin in Wano, and both Kid and the deceased Oden are revealed to command Supreme King Haki. Shutenmaru is verified to be Ashura Doji, and the fruit Shinobu ate is named as the Juku Juku no Mi. With this chapter, the Wano Country Arc's opening act reaches its close.
