Chapter 986

Kin'emon and Denjiro rejoin the rest of the Scabbards beside a defeated Kanjuro, then meet Izou as the group advances into Kaidou's fortress. While Luffy escorts Yamato toward the Performance Stage, he uses advanced Armament Haki to wrench off the exploding handcuffs binding him. Onstage, Kaidou offers Orochi's two intelligence corps the choice to serve or die, and Fukurokuju and Hotei swiftly swear loyalty. Kaidou then dares Momonosuke to deny his lineage, but the boy proudly affirms it, and the Scabbards strike just as the execution looms.

The Scabbards mourn Kanjuro briefly, with Kin'emon laying his hat on his fallen former comrade. Momonosuke, after nearly faltering, declares himself the future shogun of Wano, weeping over his regrets before Yamato's detonated cuffs blast him and Luffy toward the stage. Luffy holds Yamato back so the Scabbards can begin the battle properly. They crash in behind Kaidou, Izou shoots King's sword from his grip, Nekomamushi knocks away Kaidou's club, and the retainers, abandoning their names and reason, drive their blades into the Emperor with a shout of Sunacchi.

It is revealed that the Orochi Oniwabanshu and the Mimawarigumi number 5,000 each, and the Mimawarigumi leader is named Hotei. Shinobu slips free of Big Mom's capture, and Usopp and Chopper steer the transformed tank toward the stage to aid Momonosuke. Yamato disowns Kaidou. The chapter title likely echoes the Chushingura tale of the forty-seven ronin, swapping its kanji to match Kin'emon's name. The cover continues the Bege side-story.
