Smelly Lid Old Man

Age shows plainly on the old man, whose oversized nose sits above a mouth stripped of many of its teeth. Behind bars he keeps to the striped uniform issued to inmates, topped off with a small cap.

As the longest-held resident of the block, he takes real pleasure in watching fresh arrivals break down, savoring their misery. That cruel streak does not come with any courage, though; like every other prisoner, he lives in fear of Puri-Puri Prisoner.

The old man was shut away in this particular prison precisely because his skill at manufacturing drugs made him too corrupting to hold among ordinary convicts, and cooking stimulants remains his one notable talent; at his age he has no fighting ability worth mentioning and can only grab a couple of bricks to defend himself. When Nyan tears into the prison hunting Puri-Puri Prisoner, the old man and the others press the monster over its motives. They then accept the monster cells Nyan hands out, transform into monsters, and break free. During the wider raid, after Puri-Puri Prisoner kills Baquma, the changed inmates round on the hero, branding him the true monster and vowing to end him, but they cannot overpower him. As Puri-Puri Prisoner mourns what they have become, Nyan opens his chest with a slash, and the hero responds by sprouting a coat of hair he dubs Angel Bristle Armor before crashing after Nyan through a wall; the resulting avalanche of rubble buries every transformed prisoner, the old man among them. In a separate account, when Speed-o'-Sound Sonic is thrown into the prison, the old man gloats that the place offers no escape, no morals, and no salvation, boasting that he has watched countless inmates lose their sanity and expects the same fate for Sonic, though he soon confesses his own dread of the prison's boss once Sonic stirs up trouble.
