Pesche Guatiche

Nearly the whole of Pesche's head vanishes beneath a mask shaped like an insect, complete with jutting mandibles and horns. A single yellow eye peers out of it while a purple patch conceals the other, and tufts of blond hair spill from the back. Most of his lanky body is purple, dressed in white plate over the chest, forearms, and shins with a paler loincloth at the waist, and he walks barefoot on three-toed feet, his Hollow hole sitting just under the vest. In his earlier days as a Fracción he looked wholly different, with pale skin, shoulder-length hair, and a customized uniform sporting puffed shoulders.

On the surface Pesche is a jittery coward who would rather hide than face a fight, and at first he was terrified of Shinigami to the point of panic. He is also slow-witted and forgetful, repeatedly calling Uryu Ishida by Ichigo's name and even losing track of his own abilities, and he cannot resist striking a dramatic pose or fishing for attention. A perverted streak surfaces at the worst moments. Yet the goofiness falls away whenever those he loves are in danger; fiercely devoted to Nel, he drops the act and takes charge the instant she truly needs him.

Pesche once served as the forty-first Arrancar, standing alongside Dondochakka Birstanne as Nelliel Tu Odelschwanck's Fracción. Nnoitra Gilga and Szayelaporro Granz tore off both his and Dondochakka's masks and used the pair as bait, then shattered Nelliel's mask and hurled all three from the dome of Las Noches. The fall left Nelliel shrunken into a child with neither her memories nor her powers, and the two protectors resolved to spend their lives shielding her. They even altered their own appearances, dreading that any reminder might restore the memories of battle their gentle friend had been so relieved to lose. For a long stretch the trio wandered Hueco Mundo, keeping her entertained with endless games of tag while quietly honing their strength. When Nelliel later chooses to fight once more, Pesche casts off his cowardice, revealing skills like the friction-killing Infinite Slick and the combined Cero Sincretico he shares with Dondochakka against Szayelaporro.
