Daikoku
CharacterDaikoku is a ninja of the Beasts Pirates who formerly stood among the Orochi Oniwabanshu, the guard that served Wano's shogun Kurozumi Orochi. His role makes him a minor antagonist throughout the Wano Country Arc.
Appearance
A towering figure, Daikoku is crowned by a vast mane of pale red hair spilling down both his back and his chest. He wears a deep navy kimono and two oversized purple shoulder pauldrons, and his head is topped by a purple piece set with horns shaped after a bull's.
Personality
Daikoku, like the rest of the Oniwabanshu, is blindly devoted to Orochi, refusing to move against the shogun even during a rampage that endangered his own comrades, since he holds that the ruler may do whatever he likes. Capturing the intruder Nico Robin became a fixation for him, and matters beyond his understanding unnerve him, as the Devil Fruit powers of Robin and Brook did. A highly capable ninja, he can steal up on Robin unseen and scuttle across ceilings, and he holds enough rank to send Fujin and Raijin chasing Hiyori; his particular art is Transformation. Though he keeps a large katana on him, he has yet to be seen drawing the blade.
History
Two decades earlier Daikoku attended Kouzuki Oden's execution in the Flower Capital, and the Oniwabanshu hushed Shinobu before she could expose the truth of Oden's conduct. In the Wano Country Arc, the unit trapped Robin's body double during Orochi's banquet, then scattered to search once she slipped away; Daikoku caught sight of her fleeing with Toko and raised the alarm. He brushed off guests begging him to halt the rampaging Orochi, looked on as Brook overpowered Fujin and Raijin until Robin's giant hand struck, and was caught in Nami's thunderclap.
He later guarded the Rasetsu District prison while Shimotsuki Yasuie was put to death, ordered a firing squad on Zoro after the swordsman attacked Orochi, and sent Fujin and Raijin after a woman seen beside Zoro who proved to be Hiyori. When the Fire Festival came he escorted Orochi to Onigashima, and after Kaidou cast the shogun aside the Oniwabanshu swore themselves to the Emperor. Amid the alliance's assault he battled rebels and the virus-stricken, and at last a Hyougoro whom the Ice Oni had restored to full power overwhelmed him along with most of the unit.
