Tainaka joined the 11th Ward Special Countermeasures Unit and fought in the 11th Ward Battle waged against Aogiri Tree. Into that clash he carried Roku 1/3, a bikaku-class quinque, and tracked his opponents with an eye trained by real experience, reading enemy speed even in the thick of combat. As a First Class officer he is credited with considerable fighting skill. Sometime after these events he disappeared and was recorded as missing.
