Summary

Uta knocks Renji Yomo from a rooftop and springs after him, thrusting his kagune only to be blocked and kicked onto another roof, his mind drifting to the days when he and Yomo were foes. Nearby, Koutarou Amon and Donato Porpora trade blows; Donato fires his cross-shaped kagune, and Amon raises a shield from his Doujima 1/2 quinque, then shapes it into a lance and hurls it. When Donato guards with his own kagune, Amon sets the weapon spinning at range, boring through the defense and running him through.

Mutsuki notices the Taxidermied Owl weaken. Donato likens Amon to Haise and praises his command of both quinque and kagune before Nico heals him, equally taken with Amon's skill. Then two of Donato's clones seize Amon from behind and impale him outward from within. In an underground chamber, Furuta studies the Dragon's stems, mentions Kanou, and is startled to see Kaneki walk in.

Elsewhere, as Uta slashes Yomo and Itori watches, she recalls how he once lived only to avenge his sister until Yoshimura changed him, after which he fought for his niece, his nephew, and his hopes for Kaneki, though nothing feels settled for her and Uta. She muses that the world cherishes humans and not ghouls, who cannot warm themselves and face only a cold void, tasting warmth solely by wounding and bleeding. As Uta runs Yomo through the chest, she calls the Clowns ghouls worn down by despair who play the fool to keep from breaking. Beaten on the ground, Yomo hears Uta name the fight fun and call him a friend he does not wish to kill or be killed by. Pleased, Uta praises Yomo's honesty as the root of his trust in the world, then laughs, unfurls his kakuja, and tells him to make him feel alive.
