Satō served as photographer for seventeen episodes of Dragon Ball spanning multiple sagas including the Red Ribbon Army, General Blue, Commander Red, and Fortuneteller Baba sagas. His photography work influenced the visual clarity and composition of key episodes. He also provided photography work on Dragon Ball Z and cinematography for the Bardock special.
Satō worked extensively as director of photography across classic anime series, including Galaxy Express 999, Great Mazinger, and Mazinger Z. His technical expertise in animation photography helped establish visual standards for anime production during the 1970s and 1980s.
