Kaori Matsumoto is a Japanese judoka who made a memorable appearance in Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods as the voice of a motorcycle policewoman modeled after her real-world self. In a 2013 interview, Matsumoto expressed her deep gratitude and nervousness about the role, saying it was a "treasure I will never forget" to perform in an anime she had loved since childhood, and that she felt she could get closer to Son Goku through her performance.
Matsumoto is best known as an Olympic gold-medalist in the lightweight division (57 kg and below) at the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, winning Japan's first gold medal at those games. Born in Ishikawa Prefecture, she began judo at age 6 and became a dominant force in international competition, winning gold at the 2010 World Championships and numerous other prestigious tournaments before her Dragon Ball voice work.
