Naoko Watanabe voiced both Puar and Chi-Chi in the original Dragon Ball series, bringing life to two very different characters. Puar's innocent, loyal squeaks and Chi-Chi's protective, strong-willed personality showcased Watanabe's vocal range. Her work on these characters established them early in the franchise before the series expanded into Dragon Ball Z. More recently, Watanabe voiced Goku's mother Gine in Dragon Ball Fusions.
Born on November 21, 1959, Watanabe has worked with Aoni Production throughout her career. In addition to Dragon Ball, she voiced Kitsuneko in the original Dr. Slump anime and Suno in Dragon Ball. Her contributions to the early Dragon Ball cast helped establish the warm, character-driven tone of Akira Toriyama's original series.
