Princess Kakyuu / Sailor Kakyuu

In her royal guise, Kakyuu wears a flowing crimson gown with a blue-trimmed bodice and rounded, puffed sleeves. Long red-orange hair falls around her, a dark crown sits on her head, and a blue ribbon shaped like a flower circles her throat.

Her Sailor uniform echoes the design worn by the Sailor Starlights yet carries several touches of its own. She keeps the same crown and the flower-like blue choker from her princess look, and a starred tiara marks her brow. An orange-red bodice, matching collar, and sheer amber armbands complete the upper half, while her skirt shortens into layered, translucent petals in shades of red and orange. Pointed shoes and a winged star brooch, the Sailor Change Star, round out the ensemble.

Kakyuu carries herself with quiet royal grace and a deep devotion to those who serve her. Even gravely weakened, she thinks first of her guardians and her ruined world, and she is drawn toward the far-off light of Usagi and Mamoru as a symbol of hope. When the moment demands it she sets aside her fragility and chooses to fight, and with her final breath she wishes only to be reborn alongside her comrades, a testament to her selfless heart.

Kakyuu is the Sailor Princess of the Tankei Kingdom on Kinmoku and its resident Sailor Guardian. She once lived there among her three protectors, the Sailor Starlights, and the person she loved. Catching sight of the radiance that Usagi and Mamoru gave off during their coronation, she longed to meet the guardians of that solar system. Within months Shadow Galactica fell upon Kinmoku; wounded, she fled after watching her beloved die and her planet destroyed, steering toward the earthly light she had glimpsed. Her Starlights pursued her and, unable to find her, formed the idol trio the Three Lights, broadcasting the song Nagareboshi e as a plea for their princess to reveal herself.

In Cosmos, Chibi Chibi discovers the sleeping princess amid blossoms atop a playground and shelters her inside Kakyuu's Incense Burner at Usagi's home. Too frail to answer her guardians, Kakyuu listens to Chibi Chibi's stories until Seiya spots the burner; when the Three Lights come to reclaim it, she emerges, reunites with them, and finally meets Usagi to explain both Shadow Galactica and her own past. She then agrees to lead the group toward Sagittarius Zero Star.

On the journey they stumble into the Desert Rivers of Oblivion and Memory and lose their memories, until Sailor Mnemosyne lets Kakyuu drink from the river of memory. Sailor Chi and Sailor Phi then strike, executing the river guardians and seizing the Starlights' Sailor Crystals. Resolving to recover them, the survivors press on to the Star Garden, where Kakyuu transforms with Kinmoku Star Power and enters the battle herself. She shatters the Garden Crystals with Starlight Royal Straight Flush and counters Sailor Phi's blizzard using Kinmoku Fusion Tempest, but Sailor Chi runs her through from behind. Dying in Usagi's arms, she asks to be reborn together someday, even into a world still at war. Sailor Venus later destroys her body and claims her Sailor Crystal.
