The Super Gekitou Trailer
A New Trailer at Battle Hour
Toei Animation showed the "Super Gekitou" trailer for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus on April 19, 2026, during the Dragon Ball Games Battle Hour event in Los Angeles. Battle Hour is an annual official Dragon Ball event, and the trailer was one of its main reveals. The footage comes from the enhanced remake of the original Dragon Ball Super anime, which was first announced on January 25, 2026 at the Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri event in Japan.
The original Dragon Ball Super anime aired in Japan from 2015 to 2018, so the series had been off the air for roughly eight years before the remake was announced. The remake reworks that original run rather than animating an entirely new story.
What the Trailer Shows
The trailer focuses on the fight between Son Goku and the God of Destruction Beerus from the Battle of Gods arc, presented with the remake's updated animation. It ends with a shot of Frieza awaiting his resurrection, which sets him up as a later antagonist in the series. Frieza is one of the franchise's recurring villains, and the resurrection reference points to the Resurrection F storyline in which he returns.
Comments From the Voice Cast
Nozawa, Yamadera, and Douglas
Masako Nozawa, who has voiced Goku since the original Dragon Ball anime in 1986, said of the trailer: "The battle between Goku and Beerus was so thrilling and epic! Then, Frieza appears at the end! I hope you are all excited for the powered up, enhanced edition of Goku and Frieza's battle!" She also said the Frieza moment appears to be a new scene that was not in the original television anime.
Koichi Yamadera, the Japanese voice of Beerus, said he was glad to see Beerus named in the title. Jason Douglas, the English dub voice of Beerus, said he was glad to see the character take a central role. The remake uses newly recorded dubbing, so the cast has re-recorded their lines for the updated version.
About the Remake
What Dragon Ball Super: Beerus Covers
The Battle of Gods arc is the opening arc of Dragon Ball Super. In it, Beerus the God of Destruction is introduced, and Goku attains the Super Saiyan God form for the first time. The arc is based on the 2013 film Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods. By starting the remake here, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus revisits the beginning of the Super era.
The original work, story, and character design are credited to Akira Toriyama. According to the production, the remake includes new cuts, revisions to existing scenes, a complete re-rendering of all footage, newly recorded dubbing, and updated music and sound effects.
Release and Related Projects
Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is scheduled to premiere in Fall 2026. At the same Genkidamatsuri event, a separate new anime, Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, was also announced, and it does not yet have a release date. Frieza's appearance at the end of the Beerus trailer has led to speculation that the remake could later adapt the Frieza, also known as the Resurrection F, arc, though no such plans have been announced.
