Judgment

The imprisoned Survey Corps members feel the walls shake as Marleyan paratroopers descend on Shiganshina from their airships. Pieck shouts for Galliard to cut the chain binding her to Gabi; he severs her hand instead, and she leaps from the roof, transforms, and carries the girl to safety in the Cart Titan's mouth. Yelena urges Eren to abandon his Titan and burrow to safety with the War Hammer's power, but he recognizes Reiner's fingerprints on the assault and strides into the streets to meet him. Reiner drops from the sky, becomes the Armored Titan, and the two collide.

Pieck delivers Gabi to Magath, who embraces her before scolding her recklessness. Colt learns from Gabi that Falco swallowed Zeke's spinal fluid and sits imprisoned, while Pieck reports the mass detention of dosed Eldian soldiers and reasons that Eren still cannot invoke the Founding Titan, or he already would have. Gabi's memory of the brothers' airship conversation crystallizes the danger: Zeke may carry royal blood, so he and Eren must never meet. Vowing to devour the Founding Titan and close a century of resentment, Magath mounts the artillery cannon Pieck has strapped to the Cart Titan's back.

Eren cracks away much of Reiner's armor, yet the Armored Titan keeps coming. When Galliard strikes from behind and Reiner seizes him from the front, Eren skewers both on hardened War Hammer spikes. Yeagerists close in with Thunder Spears, but Magath's cannon shell tears through the Attack Titan's skull first, wrecking its brain and freeing the two Warriors. Under covering fire from ground troops and airships, Magath keeps shelling Eren to drain the War Hammer's limited stamina. Reiner, reflecting that all Titan inheritors are dying anyway, finally pins Eren and moves to bite out his nape. Screaming in defiance, Eren rips the Armored Titan's head from its jaw, and a hurled boulder shatters against Reiner: Zeke stands transformed as the Beast Titan, telling his brother to leave the rest to him.

Marley's air force launches a surprise assault on Shiganshina less than a month after the Liberio raid, stunning the Anti-Marleyan Volunteers.

Pieck escapes her restraints, transforms into the Cart Titan, and reunites Gabi with Magath and Colt.

The Warriors deduce that Zeke likely possesses royal blood and resolve to keep him away from Eren at all costs.

Eren impales both the Armored and Jaw Titans with War Hammer spikes before Magath's shell from the Cart Titan's cannon disables his Titan's brain.

Reiner nearly bites through Eren's nape, but Eren tears the Armored Titan's head free as Zeke arrives in Beast Titan form.

Judgment, whose kanji reads literally as "Conviction," is the 117th chapter of Hajime Isayama's Attack on Titan and the third entry in volume 29. Japan received it on May 9, 2019, the English simulpub a day before; that simulpub used the spelling "Judgement."

Part of the War for Paradis arc, its events spread across the anime episodes Above and Below, Judgment, and Sneak Attack. It follows Above and Below and precedes Sneak Attack.

The chapter's emotional core is Reiner's internal plea for Eren to stop struggling and sleep, a weary conviction that the suffering on both sides has gone on long enough.
