Refugees on the Western Sea

Roderick's sailors carry a hollow, unresponsive Guts onto the Seahorse. Serpico calls out for Farnese, and Puck leads him to where she sits with Schierke and Ivalera. Grateful they are alive, Serpico still notices with unease that Guts, Casca, and the Moonlight Boy are nowhere among the survivors. Farnese collapses in tears, blaming herself for being useless when Griffith struck Elfhelm, and Isidro shares her grief.

Molda arrives to steady everyone, pulling Farnese and Schierke away to mend the wounded with their magic. She reports that Guts survived and is aboard but was last seen mumbling and out of reach, and she cautions that if the Berserker Armor triggers on the ship the results will be dire. Schierke sets off to find him with Puck and Ivalera trailing behind. Told that all survivors are aboard though half the cargo sank, Roderick orders the crew to sail the West Sea at once.

Learning that Guts has sealed himself in the cargo hold, Roderick warns the crew not to leave him alone and hammers uselessly on the door as Schierke reaches him. Below, Guts fixes his stare on the upright Dragon Slayer until a shudder drops him to the floor and the blade topples after him. He recalls his years as a mercenary, when the sword was the one thing that stayed with him through having nothing and no one, and now that his faith in even that is cracking, he sits alone in the dark in torment.
