Mareyo Ōmaeda

Mareyo is a small child whose light brown hair falls well past her shoulders, set off by bright green eyes. Her outfit is a pink kimono scattered with white floral patterning.

She adores her big brother Marechiyo and longs for his attention, dissolving into tears whenever he turns her away. On first meeting Shūhei Hisagi, Izuru Kira, and Renji Abarai, she urges them to look after him well. Her other brother, Marejirōsaburō, she can do without, finding his beloved books unpleasant enough to slip away from him.

Mareyo is the daughter of the clan head Marenoshin and one of Marechiyo's younger siblings. When the Wandenreich assault Seireitei, Marechiyo comes home during his captain's absence, and Mareyo begs him to play; he brushes her off as too busy, and she wanders off rather than accept Marejirōsaburō's offer to read to her.

After the invaders overwrite Seireitei with their own city, she pleads with Marechiyo not to leave, but he explains that guarding her and the family is his duty as a Soul Reaper. Their moment is broken by BG9, who drives a tendril through Mareyo to pressure Marechiyo into answering its questions. He carries the wounded girl and Suì-Fēng through the ruins, running into a band of Soldat before Momo Hinamori and Shinji Hirako arrive to cut them down. Hinamori mends her injuries, and the sleeping child is later left in the laboratory, judged safest among the Shinigami.
