Suì-Fēng Dies? The Last of the Special Forces

Struck by a Bitto that lodged in her shoulder, Suì-Fēng recognizes the sting as a Bount's poison and deduces that an enemy is controlling her Keigun like puppets. Across the Seireitei, the same Doll drives possessed Shinigami to attack Ichigo, Renji, Sado, and their allies, forcing each of them to subdue their own comrades without killing. Komamura and Hisagi work to contain the chaos while Unohana examines a captured victim and finds the Doll Ritz too deeply fused to safely extract.

Drawing Mabashi away, Suì-Fēng sheds her outer robes and faces him on a rooftop pavilion. He warns that the Bitto's rotting soul will kill her before long and keeps pace with the weakened captain in a brutal exchange of strikes. When she finally moves to release Suzumebachi and pin him, the poison buckles her, letting Mabashi escape with only a Hōmonka on his chest. He decides to hide and savor her death, but Suì-Fēng, blind and crawling, recalls Yoruichi and plunges her own stinger into her arm.

Mabashi returns to use the dying captain against the Shinigami, revealing that all ten Keigun who came to her aid are already puppets of Ritz. As they seize her, he prepares to enslave her body, but Suì-Fēng erupts with Shunkō, scatters the Dolls, and drives Suzumebachi into the center of his Hōmonka to complete Nigeki Kessatsu. She reveals that her Keigun training left her immune to most poisons and that she detoxified the Bitto by stabbing herself, her feigned helplessness a gambit to lure him within reach.

Refusing to accept defeat, Mabashi orders his Ritz copies to attack, only for the weakened Doll to turn on its master and reduce him to dust as Suzumebachi's poison finishes him. The possessed Shinigami across the city collapse free of control. Elsewhere, Yoshi coldly mourns Mabashi's naivety, and Mayuri Kurotsuchi steps out of hiding to confront Sawatari after failing to find Maki Ichinose.

Mabashi's Doll Ritz possesses Keigun and Shinigami throughout the Seireitei, forcing Ichigo, Renji, and the others to fight their own allies. A poisoned Suì-Fēng battles Mabashi and secretly cures herself by stabbing her arm with Suzumebachi. Feigning helplessness, she lures Mabashi close, activates Shunkō, and completes Nigeki Kessatsu on his Hōmonka. The overpowered Ritz turns on Mabashi and destroys him, freeing every possessed victim. Mayuri emerges to challenge Sawatari.

This anime-original episode is part of the Bount Assault on Soul Society arc and adapts no manga chapter. Its opening theme is Rolling Star and its ending is Baby It's You. It aired in Japan on October 18, 2006, and in English on February 7, 2009. The lone fight, Suì-Fēng against Mabashi, is concluded here. Because the manga had not yet shown the finished form of Nigeki Kessatsu, the anime depicts it as a slow lethal poison rather than the instant obliteration used in later canon. A Shinigami Illustrated Picture Book skit shows Kenpachi lazing in the Rukongai, declaring the one he truly wants to cut down is Ichigo.
