Appearance
The devil is hard to describe with any confidence, since it has surfaced only once and only as part of a vast tangle of fused devils. Within that mass it reads as a knot of joined humanoid figures, each with a warped face and a different weapon in hand. Jutting from the bunch is a cluster of arms set around a gaping mouth that recalls the maw of the Snake Devil. In the colored printing its inner forms take a pale brownish yellow while the outer arms and mouth carry a stronger yellow.
Personality
Nothing of the Punishment Devil's temperament has been shown. It stands for the dread of punishment, beatings, and retribution, a fear captured in its Japanese name, a word that doubles as the gesture Japanese speakers use to mark something as wrong.
History
At some earlier point both Yutaro Kurose and Michiko Tendo entered into a contract with the devil for a price that is never disclosed. Makima later draws on that pact, alongside a host of other devils and their contract holders, during the assault on the Gun Devil. The Punishment Devil's role is to torment its target out of view, wearing the Gun Devil down so severely that it is forced to collapse into a fiend.
