Summary

The Leech Devil makes short work of Denji, scoffing that someone so feeble could never have slain the Bat Devil. She mourns the partner she lost, recalling their shared fantasy of one day consuming all of humanity, a goal she calls beautiful precisely because it can never be reached. Her grief soon hardens into fury as she swears to avenge the Bat Devil.

Denji answers with a dream of his own, insisting he refuses to die before he gets to fondle a woman. Rather than back down, he recasts the fight as a duel of ambitions, declaring that whoever wins proves their dream the worthier one. Both throw themselves into the exchange; Denji lands his chainsaw but takes a wound straight through the gut and finds himself about to be eaten.

Rescue arrives in Aki Hayakawa, who calls on his Fox Devil to seize and devour the Leech Devil. With the threat gone, the rookies are sent to evacuate survivors while the veteran Himeno watches for further devils. Denji and Power are carried off for treatment and questioning, and the cat Meowy is taken to a vet for a checkup.
