Rin Sawaki

Standing at a fairly average height, Rin has brown eyes and wears her long brown hair in pigtails, with bangs falling across her forehead. She also sports glasses with purple frames. Her everyday clothes are the school uniform, a dark blazer that buttons up and carries the school emblem over the left chest, paired with a collared shirt, a ribbon bow, a short dark skirt, knee socks, and sandals.

Rin is warm, attentive, considerate, polite, and conscientious. Serving as Class C's rep, she puts her classmates first and wants them to bring her any troubles, and she will not shy from confrontation when their welfare is at stake. That selflessness reaches back to childhood, when she cared for a grandmother confined to bed and handled the housework to ease the load on her working mother, even at the expense of her own social life. She loves vampire romance stories and hopes to pen a novel of her own someday. Her runaway imagination often pulls her into far-fetched vampire daydreams, and she has a habit of voicing every thought aloud without realizing it; when someone points this out, she leaps to the conclusion that they read minds and must therefore be vampires, and she tends to swoon over them. This side surfaces most when something catches her off guard, such as her first meeting with the talking cat Turbo Granny, whom she even mistook for a man because of the rough language.

In her childhood, Rin took on the duty of watching a grandmother who could not leave her bed while her mom went out to work. In elementary school her singing made a strong impression on her classmates and caught the attention of Mai Kawabanga, who was convinced the two of them could make it as idols together. Rin agreed to rehearse for a junior idol audition, but once her mother reminded her how much the family depended on her to watch the grandmother, she told Mai and the others she would have to drop out to keep up her duties at home. Reading this as a lie and painting her mother as lazy, the friends turned on her, so Rin declared there was no point in any of them becoming idols, which ended her friendship with Mai, who came to see her as a traitor. Among her gifts is a beautiful singing voice, and she once wielded gravity manipulation through Mai Kawabanga.
