Summary

Momo Ayase, raised in a line of spirit mediums, and an occult-obsessed boy she nicknames Occult-kun argue over whether ghosts or aliens are real. Both wagers come true in terrifying fashion, ending with a revelation about the boy's name that leaves Momo speechless.

Key Events

Momo dumps her boyfriend after he pesters her for money and a hotel, confessing to her friends that she only liked him for resembling actor Ken Takakura. At school she defends a bullied classmate, who then talks her ear off about aliens, and their clash of beliefs becomes a wager. That night Occult-kun meets Turbo Granny, who curses him, while Momo is seized inside Nagi Hospital by the Serpo, aliens after human reproductive organs. Strapped down and assaulted with psychokinesis, Momo is saved when the Serpo are interrupted and Turbo Granny, possessing Occult-kun, tears off their devices. Recalling her grandmother's ritual, Momo unlocks her own ki, breaks free, and kicks the alien hard enough to wreck the UFO. Turbo Granny flees with the boy's genitals, leaving only one way to lift the curse: facing her in the tunnel.

Notes

The episode draws from Chapter 1 and opens the Turbo Granny Arc, airing October 4, 2024. The closing gag reframes the whole hour: when Momo finally asks the boy's name, he answers Ken Takakura, the very actor she had pined for. Several visual beats differ from the manga, including how Okarun and Momo meet in a stairwell hall, an extra childhood flashback of a young Ken trying to reach aliens with a walkie-talkie, and the Serpo's UFO crashing onto a highway. The opening theme is Otonoke and the ending is TAIDADA.
