Mission Impossible

Inside the local police box, the duo tries registering Turbo Granny as misplaced property, yet the desk officer smells something off and peppers them with questions. His inspection irritates the old yokai to the brink of exposure, so Momo conjures a diversion through her psychokinesis and ducks outside alongside Okarun once the form is complete. Their trick lands, but it counts for little: Turbo Granny soon reappears to admit defeat, since the data she was after sits behind a computer she has no clue how to run.

Hunting for a maneki-neko to leave behind in her spot, the group heads into a convenience store and finds Rokuro behind the counter as a clerk. His Serpo roots make Momo skeptical of his story, but he explains his exile: branded a defect for thinking unlike his kind, a shift he attributes to her influence. Okarun trusts him no more than she does, yet Momo still requests his aid, something that will draw on his nanoskin.

After the officer turns wary of the handover, Momo rattles something in the rear room using her mind to pull his focus, and the two slip away. The computer beats Turbo Granny, who throws in the towel. Searching for a cat figurine to stand in for her, the pair enter a shop and spot Rokuro on shift; he tells them his kind cast him out, and Momo signs him up for the job.

Launching Volume 16, the chapter belongs to the Danmara Arc under the Kintama Hunt Saga. Rokuro Serpo returns here in a civilian job following his banishment. Spanning nineteen pages, it debuted on November 28, 2023.
