Okarun and Kinta

A yokai-charged Hase and the surviving alien from the Kur advance unit, now in a fresh exosuit, hunt down Okarun and Kinta, with Kinta panicking over who these attackers are. Hase's kick lands on Okarun but is absorbed by wrist airbags spun out of Kinta's nanoskin. He warns the airbags will not hold and wants to find Rin and Koki, while Kinta tells him to keep the enemies busy since they cannot spare attention for the girls.

Hase drops his yokai form, worn out and sore-footed, and tells the alien to stop fidgeting so he can aim, directing her after Kinta instead. She ignores him, fussing with the suit Saint-Germain gave her. Hase reminds her they both want Okarun's powers, then transforms again and admits his real aim is revenge, warning her not to interfere. The pause lets Kinta forge armor for Okarun, fitted with back verniers and leg pile bunkers, while Kinta builds the Great Kinta for himself, leaving Okarun unhappy with his flimsier gear.

The alien charges, dodges Kinta, and kicks Okarun for little effect, since Kinta had been hardening his nanoskin to steel by carrying a sheet of paper around. Okarun complains the suits are clumsy, and Hase boots Kinta aside. Asked her reasons, the alien says Okarun took everything from her, though he counters that it started when she stole his kintama. Her planet, she explains, was destroyed by the Kur, so she infiltrated them to kill their emperor as Hastur's right hand, nearly succeeding until the Family's victory ruined her plan. Okarun brushes off her grievance and strikes with the verniers; she blocks, but his pile bunkers send both sprawling. He begs her to stop, insisting he is no enemy, yet memories of her lost partner harden her resolve to take his life and then end her own.

The clash pits Okarun and Kinta on one side against Hase and the exosuit alien on the other. Should she come between him and Okarun, Hase tells the alien, he will end her life. Kinta spends his scant nanoskin building their battle suits, though Okarun's is far weaker than the Great Kinta. Kinta notes he has trained daily to give the nanoskin steel-like traits. The alien reveals her world was overrun by the Kur, so she joined their ranks to assassinate the emperor, only for Okarun and the others to stop her. She vows to kill Okarun and then herself as flashbacks of her lover on their planet play out.

Released April 1, 2025 in Volume 22 within the Ultimate Yokai Saga, this Kozuka Knives Arc chapter opens the drawn-out brawl pitting Okarun and Kinta against Hase and the exosuit alien, and unpacks the alien's vendetta rooted in her ruined home planet during the Kur Invasion.
