Chapter 28: That's A Premonition About The Turmoils of Love!

Caught off guard by Jiji's return, Okarun sizes up the newcomer's rugged look, though he, Momo, and Aira are all put off by Jiji's hyper reaction to Momo's face at the door. Once Momo welcomes him inside, she is floored to hear that the boy intends to live with them. The news rattles Okarun too, while Aira reads Jiji's arrival as Momo gathering allies for some grand battle and marches off vowing to stop her, leaving Momo exasperated with both of them. Okarun heads out as well, but first honors Momo's request to say he will see her tomorrow, echoing her own past words and stirring emotion in them both.

Momo presses Seiko on why Jiji is moving in, and Seiko repeats that his parents are hospitalized while soaking up his flattery over dinner. Washing dishes together, Jiji apologizes for once mocking her childhood ritual and admits he can now see spirits. Shaken, Momo asks whether he ever came across a golden ball, then waves the question off when he looks confused.

Jiji recounts being haunted by an evil spirit at home, and how every exorcist his sick parents hired ended up taking their own life, which drove him to seek Seiko as a final resort. Momo assures him her grandmother will defeat the spirit, but Seiko instead hands the job to Momo, noting that her powers function only inside Kamikoshi City, while Jiji's predicament might tie back to Okarun's kintama. She sweetens the assignment with the promise of new uniforms. The chapter runs in Volume 4 under the Cursed House Arc and Kintama Hunt Saga, released October 12, 2021, and adapted as Episode 11.
