Key Events

Kyogai accelerates his drumming into a relentless storm of slashes, recalling a musician in his human life who once mocked his writing as worthless. When the tempo slows, Tanjiro notices he can land softly without aggravating his wounds, and by using shallow breaths and tracking a faint scent that precedes each claw strike, he stops moving wastefully. He then unleashes Water Breathing's ninth form and beheads the demon. Tanjiro tells the dying Kyogai that his Blood Demon Art was genuinely remarkable, and the former Kizuki sheds tears as his craft is finally acknowledged before he turns to ash. After collecting a blood sample for Tamayo, Tanjiro reunites with the children. Outside, he discovers the masked swordsman kicking Zenitsu, who has thrown himself over Nezuko's box. Zenitsu explains that his exceptional hearing let him sense Tanjiro's kindness and trust that he had a good reason to carry a demon. Recalling Nezuko once shielding their brother Rokuta, Tanjiro charges the masked slayer to protect his new friend.
