Junichi Suwabe

In Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, animated by Ufotable, Suwabe voices Kyogai, the drum-wielding demon who occupies the strange Tsuzumi Mansion. The part is one of many memorable antagonists in his catalogue; Suwabe has built a reputation for voicing commanding and often menacing figures, a strength that extends from Kyogai to the curse Ryomen Sukuna in Jujutsu Kaisen. Affiliated with the agency Haikyo, he has remained one of the most sought-after performers in Japanese animation across decades of work.

Born on March 29, 1972, in Tokyo, Suwabe has worked as a voice actor since 1995. His widely recognized roles include Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez in Bleach, Keigo Atobe in The Prince of Tennis, Victor Nikiforov in Yuri!!! on ICE, Yami Sukehiro in Black Clover, Archer in Fate/stay night, and Undertaker in Black Butler. He has also voiced Daiki Aomine in Kuroko's Basketball, Bercouli Synthesis One in Sword Art Online, Shota Aizawa and Jurota Shishida in My Hero Academia, Dandy in Space Dandy, Oda Sakunosuke in Bungo Stray Dogs, and Sentinel Prime in the Transformers franchise.

Suwabe's performances have earned industry honors at the Seiyu Awards: he was nominated for the Best Singing Award at the 6th ceremony and received the Best Supporting Actor award at the 7th. Beyond his acting, he works in dubbing, providing the Japanese voice for the Korean actor Gong Yoo. He is also a member of the unit PHERO☆MEN, which he formed with fellow voice actor Kohsuke Toriumi.
