A Test of Willpower

Recovering in the medical ward, Kokuri tells Boruto and the prison doctor that his attacker wore an inmate's uniform. Since the ward can only be entered with a special wooden token, Boruto guesses a doctor misplaced theirs. Escorted back to his cell, he assures Kokuri of his protection and updates Mitsuki, and the two resolve to have Kokuri moved into their cell for constant watch. Mitsuki relays the request to Sarada by snake, but Mujo's attempt to grant it is blocked by Benga, who insists protocol forbids the transfer and warns against setting a dangerous precedent. Unable to override him, an ailing Mujo swallows painkillers, while Sarada, hidden nearby, later leaves a note about Benga's meddling and slips into his office to investigate.

Haie carries Benga a summons from Tsukiyo, who bribes the jailer to eliminate Kokuri. Sarada narrowly avoids Benga on her way out. During the inmates' exercise period, Boruto and Mitsuki fish for information; Arai agrees to help and points them to a prisoner named Doragu. Intrigued that Boruto wants payback against Benga, Doragu demands a favor first and sets a test of nerve: retrieve the bulb from the prison's lighthouse, whose glare keeps him awake. Mitsuki quietly cautions Boruto that using ninjutsu would blow their cover.

Boruto slips past guards, traps, and lightning strikes to reach the bulb, but pulling it sets off an alarm Doragu knew would sound, gleefully declaring Boruto is now locked away for life. Boruto escapes anyway by using Lightning Release to overload the bulb, the blinding flash covering his retreat, and demands Doragu honor the bargain.

Mujo confronts Benga with a ledger documenting his bribe arrangements with inmates and reverses his earlier ruling, finally placing Kokuri in Boruto and Mitsuki's cell. A doctor then reports a missing wooden token, triggering a lockdown and a full sweep of the castle. Piecing together the timeline, Mitsuki concludes that the only window to steal the token was while Boruto was in the medical ward, and since every inmate was confined to their cells, Kokuri's attacker must be one of their own cellmates.

Set within the Mujina Bandits Arc of Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, the episode unfolds inside Hozuki Castle. It aired in Japan on 2 February 2020 and in English on 23 November 2021. The opening theme is Teenage Dream and the ending theme is Fireworks. The mission's core tension comes from Boruto and Mitsuki operating without their ninjutsu to keep their disguises intact.
