Breaking Out of Hōzuki Castle

Assigned to scrub away bird droppings after Mitsuki lures gulls close and Boruto scatters crumbs, the boys turn the chore into cover for a strategy session with Kokuri and Sarada. Their pieces are falling into place: snakes have mapped a way out, and Doragu has told Boruto when the next supply ships arrive. The remaining obstacle is stripping the Heavenly Prison seal off Kokuri, which requires poisoning the water he drinks. Because he cannot be maneuvered near the aboveground tank, the plan shifts to the facility's backup underground reservoir, and Sarada aims to open the valves so an old, lightly guarded tank fills too.

When Kedama stumbles onto one of the lookout snakes, Mitsuki trails and restrains him, revealing to the man's shock that he can wield ninjutsu. Sensing buried pain, Mitsuki draws out the truth: Kedama once tried to flee alongside his friend Kiku, and the attempt ended in Kiku's death. Benga had twisted the story, branding Kedama a snitch so the inmates would turn on him rather than see the pair as martyrs. Elsewhere, Doragu, secretly Benga's informant, reports the team's probing questions, prompting Benga to hunt Sarada down.

Sarada engineers a diversion to reach and turn the reservoir valve, but Benga corners her below ground. When she hints that she knows how he abuses his authority, he answers with Fire Release. Her dodge sends the flames into a gas line, and the blast caves in the floor, dropping her out of sight. Benga quietly calls off the search and orders his staff away from the leaking gas.

Kedama overhears all of this yet says nothing to Boruto or Mitsuki. With no confirmation signal ever arriving, Boruto simply chooses to believe Sarada completed her task, and the escape stays locked to schedule.

This installment belongs to the Mujina Bandits Arc of the Boruto anime and centers on the covert prison operation inside Hōzuki Castle. Mitsuki's sympathy for Kedama ties back to his own past stint infiltrating enemies during the arc built around his disappearance.
