Gurutaro

Lean and strikingly tall, Gurutaro rises high enough that his head meets the shoulders of Oden, who stands close to thirteen feet. He keeps his long brown hair tied back in a ponytail. His clothing is a dark yukata bearing a leaf pattern, layered under the white coat that signals a member of the Mimawarigumi.

His regard for Oden runs deep, so much so that he was willing to take a bribe as a pretext for not making the arrest. That respect did not eclipse his duty, however, and he went ahead with the official order all the same.

Four decades and a year before the present, the job of telling Kouzuki Oden about his disownment fell to Gurutaro, and the choice itself reflected the standing he held within the Mimawarigumi. Being a samurai, he is assumed to carry real combat skill, and he carries a sword as well as a spear, neither of which has been shown in use.

While crossing the Flower Capital in search of Oden, he caught sight of a commotion at a crematory and went to look. The mourners gathered there asked him to stop someone cooking a pot of oden atop the remains of the departed, and Gurutaro recognized that someone as Oden himself. Once Oden had given his farewell to the departed Katsuzo, the samurai hurried after him, apologizing to the crowd for his peculiar conduct. Catching up in the street, he passed along the order for Oden's arrest while offering the bribe as a way out, but the Mountain God Incident broke out and pulled Oden away to deal with it. Where Gurutaro stands today is not known.
