Unable to face kissing Loid sober, Yor drains the wine bottle, hurls a fork past her brother's cheek to silence him, and pushes her husband down for the attempt, only for Yuri to lunge between them. The slap meant for Loid catches Yuri full in the face, launching him across the room. Neither drunken sibling can stand steadily afterward, and Loid holds them both upright while sincerely admiring their bond. Yuri departs defeated but defiant, vowing to prove the marriage a sham and nearly blurting an execution threat should his sister ever be made to cry. A sweep of the apartment turns up no listening devices, and Loid, reflecting that he has no one outside this manufactured household, feels an unfamiliar envy of the Briars' closeness.

Morning brings a colder calculation. With an SSS officer now inside his extended family, Loid opts for caution despite finding nothing suspicious about Yor, and plants a bug on her collar under the pretense of brushing something off. Yor, meanwhile, spirals over her failings as a wife and asks her city hall coworkers for advice while Loid eavesdrops from the roof. When her boss hands her a letter to mail, Loid arranges a direct test: he and a reluctant Franky pull on Secret Police uniforms, corner her in an alley, and accuse her of smuggling coded messages to the West. Their script dangles an easy exit, since naming an SSS relative would end everything instantly, but Yor never mentions Yuri. Instead she throws Franky to the pavement, warns that anyone threatening Loid or her brother will get no mercy, and squares up to fight two government agents on the spot.

Satisfied of her innocence, Loid aborts the ruse with a hasty cover story about hemorrhoid medication in the chief's letter. Franky needles him afterward about the guilt on his face and warns him against trusting anyone. Walking Yor home, Loid retrieves the bug the same way he planted it, then answers her self-criticism with unexpected warmth: chasing an ideal is admirable, he tells her, but performing one is exhausting, and being herself is what would make Anya happiest. Her quiet answer, that marrying him is something she is happy about, lands hard enough that he crushes the recovered listening device in his fist. The family marks its first fake anniversary with cake, with Anya delighted to find her parents getting along.

Yor's drunken slap ends both the kiss demand and Yuri's visit, and Loid confirms no bugs were left behind.
