Summary

Perched high on a construction crane, Ken Kaneki surveys the clash below. Nishiki Nishio vents his frustration at the investigators for storming a simple cafe, branding the operation petty and pointless, and criticizes Yoshimura's gentleness in urging the staff to stay hidden. When Kaneki asks about his plans, Nishiki says he intends to see Kimi Nishino before leaving the 20th ward.

Kaneki reflects on why Yoshimura built the shop and for whose sake, recalling an untouched antique cup and guessing it may have been set aside for a particular person. As he resolves to step into the fight, Shuu Tsukiyama begs him to stay back and lunges at him, only to be restrained. Kaneki thanks Tsukiyama for the concern yet insists on standing with the Anteiku workers.
