Among the animal-based Zoan powers sits this tanuki model, which lets whoever consumes it switch freely between a partial hybrid shape and the body of a complete tanuki. That creature, a canine species sometimes called the Japanese raccoon dog, is native to Wano Country. Overseas the power carries the label Dog-Dog Fruit, Model Tanuki, and the naming leans on Inu, which is simply the word for dog in Japanese.

Where most Zoan fruits sharpen a warrior, this one delivers nothing for combat at all. Its genuine purpose is different: feed it to a lifeless object and that object becomes a living companion suited to the home. The eater still cannot escape the ordinary penalties tied to every Devil Fruit, foremost the inability to swim through seawater.

Only Bunbuku, a teapot once owned by Tenguyama Hitetsu, has taken this power, becoming alive after the fruit was fed to it. Life came at a price, since the animated kettle could no longer boil water for its owner, as resting above a flame had turned painful. The whole idea flips the folktale Bunbuku Chagama, where a tanuki assumes a teapot's guise instead of a teapot turning into the animal. This also stands as the lone standard Zoan whose first appearance landed inside the Wano Country Arc; every other Zoan seen there was of the Ancient, Mythical, or Artificial kind.
