Appearance

Tan and imposing, Hanami is covered in black lines that trace across the whole of their form. The head resembles a helmet that leaves the teeth exposed, with branches sprouting where eyes would be and two zigzagging dark streaks descending the face. Coloring on the arms is mismatched: the left limb runs entirely black save for white fingertips, while the right hand reverses this with black fingers, and a sizable flower blooms on the left shoulder.

Their wardrobe is sparse, consisting of loose black trousers cinched at the waist by a white sash, with a white cloth wrapped over the left arm.

Personality

Devotion to a planet long mistreated by people defines Hanami. They intend to slaughter humans as offerings, treating them as sacrifices toward a purer world ruled by curses that would honor the Earth, and they share Jogo's and Dagon's conviction that curses, not humans, are the genuine article. Yet beneath these gentle-seeming convictions runs a savage streak that Mahito coaxed to the surface; amid combat Hanami came to relish the thrill of fighting and let that hunger carry them past their usual limits. Their bond with their comrades runs deep, enough that they risked challenging Satoru Gojo to save Jogo from exorcism, and they followed Mahito faithfully, eventually laying down their life for the group's grand scheme in Shibuya.

Abilities

As a special grade, Hanami pairs an extraordinarily tough body with plant-controlling techniques and a knack for masking their presence better than most curses. Gojo found them more menacing than the blunt Jogo, praising their ability to flee even from the Six Eyes' perception; their high intellect, evasion, and hidden presence let them ambush Gojo and exploit Yuji's vulnerability, deploying a wooden monster together with Flower Field to recover Jogo. They passed through Jujutsu High's barriers during the cursed warehouse raid and stood at the center of the assault, taking on six of the school's elite and crippling most of them, even surviving Gojo's Hollow Technique: Purple at the edge of death after fighting Yuji and Aoi Todo. In the final clash, Gojo targeted them and exploited a fatal mistake: switching to their innate technique left the eye branches, their weakest point, exposed, and once those were snapped off, their power collapsed.

Their physical traits are formidable. The shell shattered Kasumi Miwa's sword on contact, shrugged off Noritoshi Kamo's Slicing Exorcism, took no damage from Megumi's blade, and survived a strike from Maki Zenin wielding Playful Cloud with only minimal harm. They blitzed past Megumi and Noritoshi at speed, regenerated lost limbs instantly through cursed energy reinforcement, and held cursed energy reserves so vast that Toge Inumaki exhausted himself before they did. Their innate technique, Disaster Plants, manifests cursed plants disguised as ordinary vegetation, all of which can be erased as fast as they appear; its applications include Roots that trade range for power, Wooden Balls that skewer or suspend, Cursed Bud that feeds on a target's cursed energy and burrows deeper the more they use, and Flower Field, which saps an opponent's will to fight. Hanami could also deploy Domain Amplification and possessed a Domain Expansion, Shining Sea of Growing Branches, though its full use was interrupted in the manga and anime by Gojo's arrival.
