Appearance

Short yet noticeably muscular despite his years, Awasaka is an old man whose large round eyes hold dark pupils, his hair a flat black. Baldness claims most of his scalp save for a crown tuft echoing the shape of his chin goatee, and he sports thick brows alongside a handlebar mustache. Twenty-odd years back in his prime, dark hair covered his whole head and a thin beard lined his jaw, his wardrobe then leaning casual with items like a navy sweater. Nowadays a white t-shirt sits tucked beneath a tall haramaki sash that holds his knife, paired with a yellow haramaki at the waist, snug athletic shorts that bare his toned legs, and footwear resembling socks.

Personality

Wicked, self-serving, and spiteful, Awasaka answers only to a warped personal code. In his early years he turned jujutsu against the innocent, certain he could roam free and earn money so long as he did whatever he decided needed doing. Working as an assassin in the closing decades of the last century, he treated killing as both his trade and an obligation to learn how the body is built, never finishing victims cleanly but ripping them apart and stripping the skin from their skulls while they pleaded. He believed himself free in those days while sorcerers were busy exorcising curses, until the Gojo Clan produced a child carrying the Six Eyes, which robbed him of that liberty in his later years. Wanting it back, he threw in with Kenjaku's faction to be rid of Satoru Gojo, convinced he was always in his prime and craving nothing more than to crush the helpless right up to his dying day, a thrill he still savored against opponents like Yuji and Megumi.

Abilities

A hardened close-combat fighter steeped in the art of killing, Awasaka spent most of his career on prey that could not fight back, yet even in old age he held his own against trained sorcerers. His experience let him pair his innate technique with cursed energy manipulation to render himself nearly impervious in battle, and his hand-to-hand skill was sharp enough to take on Yuji and Megumi together, two highly capable melee fighters. He favored a patient counter-fighting style that suited his ability, mixing strikes with athletic kicks and picking his moments, confident that the harder his foes swung, the easier his win became, and no one ever managed to dodge his counterattack after committing to a desperate full swing. He constantly reinforced his body with cursed energy to blunt techniques and slashing blows, which combined with his technique left him almost untouchable. That innate technique, Inverse, weakens attacks as they grow stronger and strengthens them as they grow weaker, within a fixed upper and lower limit; layered with cursed energy reinforcement, it effectively nullifies an opponent's offense. For a weapon he carried a tanto-style knife tucked into his haramaki, drawing and slashing in a single swift motion.
