Appearance

Standing just shy of 170 centimeters, Kasumi is recognizable by light blue hair that spills past her shoulders, framing her face in uneven bangs above thin brows and navy-colored eyes.

Her everyday attire layers a long-sleeved black jacket atop a pale button-down, finished with a black tie, matching trousers, socks, and shoes, plus a belt that holds her sword. For training she gathers the hair into a ponytail and changes into a dark blue tracksuit.

Personality

Kind and diligent, Kasumi never picked up the jadedness common among her classmates, instead coming off as modest, restrained, and fairly ordinary. She admires Satoru Gojo and took up the profession partly to make money, but her deeper drive is providing for her two younger brothers, which reveals a caring and steadfast streak. When Gakuganji ordered the Kyoto students to take Yuji Itadori's life, she felt deeply uncomfortable and apologized for it afterward.

She is harshly self-critical too, branding herself useless again and again and fearing that her frailty endangers the people who try to protect her. By her own admission she grips her katana out of dread of dying, yet given enough reason she will stake her life on a stronger enemy. That courage showed during the campaign against Sukuna, when she sprinted in without delay to shield Maki Zenin from the inescapable slashes of Malevolent Shrine by raising her Simple Domain.

Abilities

By every account, including her own, Kasumi is an ordinary sorcerer who offsets the lack of an innate technique with New Shadow Style swordplay and a tireless work ethic. Panda pegged her at around Grade 3. She wields her blade and the style to real effect, once slicing apart several curses in one swing at the hundred-demon night parade, though she fell short against Maki at the Goodwill Event and accomplished nothing against a monster like Kenjaku in Shibuya.

Anti-domain arts form the heart of her toolkit. New Shadow Style: Simple Domain cancels a domain's barrier and shuts off its sure-hit effect inside a 2.21-meter radius, with her blade automatically catching whatever crosses that boundary, but the technique dissolves the moment both feet leave her opening stance. Batto Sword Drawing sheathes her blade in cursed energy and spins it for a lightning-fast draw, the quickest such move in the entire style. During her strike on Kenjaku she also took a binding vow, pledging never to draw a katana again to strengthen one decisive slash, only for him to crush the blade in his bare hand. Her weapon, a katana steeped so long in her cursed energy that it counts as a semi-cursed tool, is her constant companion in combat.
