Summary

Crushed by self-blame, Yuji's resolve has caved and he wants to surrender. Set on honoring Nanami's memory, Yuji rises beside Todo to confront Mahito once more.

Key Events

Shaking on the ground before Todo and Arata, Yuji confesses he cannot fight anymore. Nobara perished in front of him, Nanami fell to Mahito, and Sukuna butchered countless people he had hoped to atone for by saving others, leaving him feeling like nothing but a killer. When Mahito lunges at the trio with a thorned arm, Todo claps and whips the curse's position around with Boogie Woogie, looping him between Arata and Yuji until a heavy kick lands, then takes his stance alone in front of the younger two. He urges Yuji not to box himself in by his sins or misfortune, insisting that so long as the living keep going, the dead are never truly defeated, and presses him to consider what he has been entrusted with, though no answer is needed yet.

Arata applies his cursed technique so Yuji's wounds will not deepen unless he takes new ones, having done the same for Nobara, who shows no pulse and no breath, yet whose odds of survival he swears are not zero before retreating with her. Mahito and Todo trade strikes, and when the curse splits himself, Todo dodges deftly while keeping Yuji clear of harm. Mahito grows confident reaching for the high of Black Flash, certain it pulls him nearer to the core of his own soul. Todo claps once more, and Yuji materializes before the curse, fist charged and Nanami's parting words in his ears. He quietly begs his mentor's pardon for almost letting his guilt become a reason to flee, then unleashes Black Flash and shatters the curse's arm. Mahito mends himself and greets Yuji back from the dead as both sorcerers brace to fight.
