Summary

Outclassed by a special grade cursed spirit, Yuji concocts a desperate gambit that hinges on handing his body over to Sukuna. The plan only works if Megumi can locate Nobara and clear the detention facility before that release happens, so the burden of survival shifts onto a frantic rescue while Yuji stalls the monster.

Key Events

Plummeting through the structure, Megumi summons his airborne shikigami Nue to break the fall and then sprints to track down Nobara, praying his classmates stay alive. Yuji keeps swinging despite being down to a single hand, trying to provoke a switch, but Sukuna refuses and warns that he will slaughter Yuji's friends the moment the trade happens. Yuji instead orders Megumi to retrieve Nobara, escape, and signal him, insisting the curse has underestimated all three of them.

The curse strips the fingers off Yuji's remaining hand as he barely clings to life, and the weight of his own helplessness sinks in. Across the facility, Nobara is overwhelmed by sheer numbers until Megumi's Toad shikigami snatches her clear at the last instant. Beaten down, Yuji realizes his despair can be funneled into cursed energy. He gathers it and lands a blow that seems useless. Then a Divine Dog belonging to Megumi lets loose a howl, the very cue he was waiting for, and he surrenders control so the King of Curses surfaces.

Notes

The installment showcases Megumi's Ten Shadows Technique through Divine Dogs, Nue, and Toad, alongside a final appearance of Nobara's Straw Doll Technique. Two confrontations wrap up here: Nobara's brawl with the cursed spirits and Yuji's losing stand against the Finger Bearer. Masamichi Yaga appears in flashback, and the events were later adapted into the fourth episode of the anime.
