Chapter 390

Ingenium's Engine is nearly spent, and he tells Shoto this is the end of the ride. The two pair Flashfire Fist: Phosphor with the last of that thrust and outrun a fighter jet, Shoto icing the path to cut drag while superheating the air ahead to shed friction. Watching the feed, Naomasa Tsukauchi clings to All Might's insistence that these two are the only hope, and marvels at the teacher behind them.

The Engine dies and Tenya crashes, though he still shouts his thanks for being helped into the person he wanted to be, and asks Shoto to make it happen for himself as well. Hurled forward, Shoto remembers a letter he wrote to Rei. He had begun talking with his classmates daily, and while it sometimes bred friction, it taught him how they feel. He wants the kind of anger and tears his friends spend on other people.

He arrives where his family is holding a swelling Dabi. The brothers scream at each other, each turning over his own beginnings, each wondering what an earlier confrontation might have changed, with Shoto still carrying arguments he has not had. Emptying himself, he releases Great Glacial Aegir and buries the firestorm in ice, and relief spreads through everyone watching the broadcast as the flames gutter out.

Recovering, Shoto tells his family their presence mattered, since Dabi's Blueflames had been climbing hotter and his ice alone might not have contained the implosion. Freezing from within and reduced to a husk, Dabi spits that the whole family, himself included, deserves to die. Natsuo sees only hell ahead. Endeavor drags himself over, apologizing for never going to Sekoto Peak, and Dabi answers with hatred. Endeavor tells him to unload, asking first for the chance to say sorry to Rei, to Natsuo, to Fuyumi and to Shoto as well.

Elsewhere, Himiko Toga notices Dabi's fire dying and wonders whether he managed to smile, while Uravity, buried under Doubles, braces to face her again.

Ingenium burns the last of his Engine to put Shoto at Dabi's location in time.

Phosphor-powered Great Glacial Aegir smothers Dabi's self-destruction and spares everyone nearby.

Dabi survives in a skeletal state and declares his hatred for his family.

Endeavor crumbles into an apology aimed at Dabi and at the rest of the family.

Himiko registers the dying flames as Uravity readies another clash with her.

Chapter 390 of My Hero Academia, written and drawn by Kohei Horikoshi, ran in issue 27 on June 5, 2023 and sits in Volume 39. The magazine version is thirteen pages, the collected one fifteen.

The Final War arc chapter concludes Todoroki Family vs. Dabi, and its content is split across Episode 157 and Episode 158. Horikoshi's author comment announces another break before the final sprint.
