Summary
With the term exams done, Class 1-A reviews footage of their matches against the teachers. Hanta Sero and Denki Kaminari try to rope Katsuki Bakugo into joining them and get brushed off. He is seething over how his pass happened: a last-second punch from Izuku Midoriya, who saved him again while he lay unconscious. A voice behind him draws a bark, since he assumes it is Izuku. It is Ochaco Uraraka, who announces his angry aura is detectable from a distance and asks what has him worse than usual. He shouts at her. She wonders why he cannot simply be decent to Izuku given their old friendship, and he refuses to take a loser back.
Ochaco tells him he looked genuinely impressive in their own bout, but Izuku's name erases all of it. What he calls hatred, she argues, is envy of how far Izuku has come. The potential frightens him, she suggests, and constant anger is a cover for his insecurity. Katsuki explodes at her, and again at Izuku when he walks into class.
Later, in Midnight's lesson, Ochaco is startled at herself for saying any of it while Katsuki stews over every word.
