Shabadaba

Rings set with jewels crowd Shabadaba's fingers, and small earrings dangle from his ears, signaling the wealth he prizes above all. He is a stout, low-standing figure whose brown hair sticks out at the sides in a way that suggests a pair of small horns, framed by sideburns and a heavy moustache that joins into muttonchops. His outfit runs to royal excess: layered white and purple robes, a gold band circling his neck, and a pink sash draped across the left shoulder.

Greed defines nearly everything about Shabadaba. Where the late king held noble ideals, the minister thinks only of riches and his own comfort, insisting that money sits at the center of the entire world and treating loyalty as something to be discarded the moment it costs him. He tells Michiru that the crown appeals to him mainly because it would let him gorge on fine food and grow plump like the prince, chasing a life of luxury and indulgence. The poverty and suffering of ordinary citizens leave him entirely unmoved.

A streak of cruelty runs alongside the avarice. Rather than simply execute a captured Michiru, he engineers a drawn-out hanging so he can be amused by the young man's struggle. He is also quick to lose his temper, erupting whenever his plans slip: when guards fail to seize the princes, when he recalls Kakeru's charitable intentions, and when Ishidate finally stops obeying him. That last outburst helps seal his fate.

Shabadaba once stood as a trusted minister and supposed friend to Kakeru Tsuki, ruler of the Land of the Moon. The king pursued high-minded goals, but his minister hungered only for gold and authority. Kakeru recognized the ambition festering in him yet kept hoping the man would reform. Instead Shabadaba drifted further toward tyranny, and when he learned the king meant to spend the treasury on the poor and cut taxes, he turned traitor outright. He paid Ishidate, Kongo, and Karenbana to murder Kakeru along with the royal heirs, Michiru and Hikaru Tsuki, clearing his path to the throne.

With the princes back in the kingdom, he ordered their deaths and branded Korega a traitor for shielding them, flying into a rage when the pair slipped away. After Michiru was captured, he set up a slow, torturous execution for his own entertainment, which bought enough time for Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno, Rock Lee, and Kakashi Hatake to intervene alongside the rebels and a troupe of circus performers. As the fighting turned, Shabadaba tried to redirect a furious Ishidate back to killing Michiru. The assassin, whose petrification gauntlet was active, seized Shabadaba by the collar instead and turned him to stone. When Naruto's finishing blow struck Ishidate, the impact hurled the assassin into the petrified minister, shattering him.
