Samurai vs. Science

Boruto and Mitsuki are drawn for the next bout but fail to show, so Shikamaru rules against any favoritism and both are disqualified, robbing them of a match they realize would have pitted them against each other. That leaves the tournament's final clash between Tsubaki Kurogane and Denki Kaminarimon, with Wasabi and Namida rallying behind Tsubaki. Denki, reflecting on how far his Team 5 has come since their Academy days, steps into the arena inside a power suit he built himself, baffling the crowd. Naruto leans in with interest at the prospect of a samurai facing off against technology.

Tsubaki strikes first, but the suit reads and answers her movements, firing off a pseudo Lightning Release the spectators recall from the earlier exam. Katasuke gleefully notes the armor uses lightning to sharpen Denki's reflexes. As Denki presses forward, Tsubaki concedes his strength and apologizes for having underestimated him, recalling how her friends urged her to stay in Konoha while cheering her on for honoring the Land of Iron. When Denki hurls her skyward and aims a fireball, she cuts through it and lands a desperate blow. Testing a theory, she attacks with both blade and sheath and smashes his visor, the motion sensor Sarada likens to a Sharingan. With the suit overheating and breaking apart, Denki refuses to quit, channeling the lightning himself and spending the last of his chakra on a finishing Elekiter strike that knocks Tsubaki out.

Denki is declared the winner as his father weeps with joy over the broadcast and Katasuke draws fresh inspiration for new tools. Konohamaru formally elevates the four victors to chunin. Tsubaki wakes in the infirmary admitting she let her guard down and disregarded her teammates' feelings, then resolves to request a longer stay in Konohagakure. Elsewhere, Team Shinki heads back to Suna after their assignment watching Kawaki, and at home Naruto asks Kawaki what he made of it all. Boruto and Mitsuki settle their unfinished business with a private match at the arena that night. A trivia note points out that Aoi Inase goes uncredited for voicing Hako Kuroi in this installment.
