Ada scolds Code for charging ahead without heeding her, since his haste meant she never got the chance to warn him that Boruto was coming. Pressed on how Boruto managed to trace Kawaki, she can only guess it stems from his Ōtsutsuki nature or his Kāma, and she admits open envy of the closeness the two boys share. Boruto and Kawaki, meanwhile, bicker over each other's presence. Kawaki urges Code to pay Boruto no mind and simply leave with him, but Code stays quiet and the pair keep quarrelling.

Boruto argues that Konoha will find him at the hideout, yet for Kawaki the whole point is keeping Naruto far off and out of harm. Ada updates Code on how likely a Konoha discovery has become. When Code wonders aloud how Kawaki expects to shield the Hokage, Kawaki says he wants an audience with whoever is pulling the strings, meaning to bargain with the figure who steered Code into leaving him out of the revenge. Code warns that such a person may make impossible demands, and Kawaki shrugs that unreasonable expectations are nothing new to him. Content with Kawaki coming willingly rather than by force, Code marks him with a Claw Mark. Boruto refuses to be brushed aside, insisting Naruto would never want this, while Kawaki maintains he acts for Naruto's sake. Boruto punches him, admits he understands, and declares he means to protect his brother.

Code introduces himself properly and, as the vessel carrying Momoshiki, professes deep reverence for Boruto, even as he regrets having to offer him up to grow a God Tree. Judging conversation pointless, Boruto activates his Kāma. Back in the village, Ino tells Naruto that even with their sensing reach stretched past its borders, Kawaki cannot be found; Naruto turns to Nishi, who confirms Boruto is nowhere close either. The fight opens with Code parrying Boruto's kick and Rasengan attempt, then vanishing through a Claw Mark to strike back. A thrown shuriken proves to be a transformed shadow clone that unleashes Lightning Release: Thunderclap Arrow, but Code dodges once more, clearly enjoying the exchange. Dismissing Boruto as a novice with the Kāma, he activates his own and explains that the seal does more than boost speed and strength; it passes down the fighting memory of the Ōtsutsuki who applied it. Sensing untapped depth in Boruto, Code demands to witness Momoshiki's power, and Boruto begins pulling harder on the Kāma.
