Gift

Kawaki relives his past through a dream in which Jigen took him in. He recalls encountering Amado beside a cluster of children suspended in a growth chamber, and Amado noting that after repeated failures only two remained. Jigen later told Kawaki he was the final one, promising that accepting him as a father would fill the emptiness inside him and that a precious gift awaited once they became true parent and child. He then wakes in Konoha to find Naruto, Shikamaru, and Konohamaru gathered in his room.

Ignoring their attempts to calm him, Kawaki bolts, only to be frozen in place by Shikamaru, who points out that any harm would already have been done. Naruto introduces himself, recalling his earlier debate with Shikamaru over the risk of sheltering the boy. Drawing on his own lonely childhood as a jinchūriki, Naruto insists on watching over Kawaki personally, though Shikamaru reminds him the looming threat of Kara makes it a decision beyond him alone. Katasuke briefs the Five Kage and their advisers on the scientific tools embedded in Kawaki's body and on the Kāma, and the leaders judge the boy too dangerous to leave unwatched.

Naruto refuses to leave Kawaki's side even during the meeting, prompting Kurotsuchi to wonder which of him is the shadow clone, while the other Kage back his plan yet press about the Kāma that Boruto also bears. Escorted home, Kawaki again attempts to flee and again finds Naruto already waiting. Over tea offered by Hinata, the boy stays hostile, then flips the table, shatters a vase, and makes a break for it. Naruto powers up and makes plain he will not let Kawaki out of his sight until his past is clear, leading the boy to suspect this man outmatches even Jigen. The standoff eases when Himawari appears and Boruto returns, the two boys recognizing each other and trading rude introductions after Boruto rages over the broken vase Himawari had crafted as a gift for their mother.
