God Tree

With the Ten-Tails now fully manifested and its belly splitting open, Obito considers his next move and lowers the barrier as the creature reshapes itself into a towering tree. Its roots sweep across the battlefield, seizing shinobi and siphoning away their chakra cloaks and their very energy until they are left withered, and dread spreads through the ranks. Gyūki confirms this to be the beast's genuine final shape, the God Tree.

As Madara and Hashirama press on with their own duel, the Uchiha recounts the tale of Kaguya Ōtsutsuki, the God Tree, and the forbidden fruit it produced only once every thousand years. He explains how chakra first became a human weapon when Kaguya ate that fruit and bore a son, later revered as the Sage of Six Paths and recorded on the Naka Shrine tablet. Madara adds that once the tree's flower blooms, the eye inside it will project onto the moon to cast the Infinite Tsukuyomi, and that he is the one destined to see the scheme through. Meanwhile Naruto struggles fruitlessly against the tree's grip as Tobirama hacks at the branches, which regrow faster than either he or a drained Minato can manage.

With Naruto fading as his Tailed Beast Mode cloak and Sage Mode markings vanish, Hiruzen appears just in time, apologizes for arriving late, and shatters the branches with his adamantine staff before pulling Naruto free, letting Tobirama teleport the group to where Sasuke and Jūgo watched the scene. Regaining a little strength, Naruto surveys his fallen allies in anguish while Obito urges everyone to surrender, promising their pain will end as the blossom atop the tree slowly parts. A trivia note points out that in one panel B's Iron Armour Seal is drawn on both shoulders, an error left uncorrected in the tankōbon edition. The chapter appears in volume 67.
