Resonance

Kawaki opens by lashing out with a stretched, morphed arm, but Garō leaps aside and answers with blasts from his gauntlet. Detaching the reshaped part of his arm, Kawaki flees the barrage and flings more of his transformed body at Garō as he runs. From cover the Konoha ninja watch, and Katasuke notes that Garō relies on ordinary scientific ninja tools while taking a keen interest in Kawaki's abilities. Garō mocks the boy's ragged breathing, then blocks his next rush, pins him, and fires a point-blank shot. Lifting Kawaki, he remarks that none of this would have happened had the boy simply obeyed. Boruto itches to help, though Konohamaru counsels restraint, and at a distance Delta grumbles about Garō's approach while Koji simply keeps watching.

As Garō considers snapping Kawaki's limbs to end his resistance, Boruto's Kāma flares and spreads across his body, drawing Garō's attention long enough for Kawaki to trigger his own. Kawaki uses it to burst Garō's gauntlet, leaving the stunned operative demanding to know where such power came from. Both marks surge as Garō retreats in fear, and Kawaki absorbs his attack, a trick Mitsuki recognizes from Boruto earlier. Kawaki then drives his morphed arm clean through Garō's torso, pulls free of the extended portion, and uses the Kāma-charged limb to blow the man apart, carving a wide crater. Delta is delighted, assuming the Konoha shinobi died too, until Koji tells her to look again: Boruto soaked up part of the blast to shield them.

Convinced the strangers must be Kara, Kawaki notices they seem unfamiliar with the Kāma. Koji suspects the two marks resonating is exactly why he is so drawn to the boy and decides he needs more information. Kawaki's body starts to smoke, his Kāma fades, and he collapses, which Katasuke chalks up to overheating. Delta wants to step in, but Koji holds her back, pointing out that the leak began the instant the blimp crashed and that Konoha will eventually fold to Kara anyway. Examining the unconscious boy, Katasuke is thrilled by technology that seems to outstrip even the Hokage's prototype hand and observes that Kawaki's whole being reads like a scientific ninja tool. When Boruto asks whether he can be repaired, Katasuke says no. Mitsuki wonders if Kawaki, like himself, was made from nothing, and reveals that he was created by Orochimaru; drawing on private talks with Naruto, Katasuke explains that Mitsuki came from organic genetic engineering whereas Kawaki was reworked through inorganic means. Judging Kawaki valuable both to Kara and to their own side for what he knows, Boruto decides they should bring him back to Konoha and to his father.

Kawaki and Boruto both awaken their Kāma against Garō, and Kawaki destroys the operative while Boruto absorbs the blast to protect the others. Koji senses the marks resonating and leaves Kawaki to Konoha. An overheated Kawaki passes out, and Katasuke identifies him as an inorganically modified being, prompting Boruto to take him home to Naruto.
