Overview

This Mythical Zoan fruit exists only within the game One Piece: Unlimited World Red and was consumed by Patrick Redfield. It grants the ability to take on a vampire form, and Oda's own sketches classify the vampire as a mythical creature. In the English subtitles its name is given as Bat-Bat Fruit, with the Model Vampire designation attached.

The fruit itself is a purple, tomato-shaped object ringed with swirl patterns, capped by a curling green stem like a tail. Its underside is a deep blood-red, a nod to its vampiric theme, and it fits comfortably in one hand.

Mechanics

The power lets its owner shift into a full vampire or a hybrid beast-man shape. This brings flight, a concealing shroud, and a teleport-like trick of vanishing and reappearing in bursts of blood-red energy. Its defining strength is draining a victim's life-force, done by biting the neck or driving the nails into the skin, which ages the target while restoring the wielder's youth; Red suggests it offers immortality so long as fresh life-force is available. Stolen life-force can also be handed back with no lasting harm to the victim.

Whether it burdens the wielder with the classic vampire banes, meaning garlic, crosses, or sunlight, has never been clarified, but the wielder does need to keep draining others to use the power fully; Red stopped using most of it once he returned what he had taken. A foe can still spot him inside his shroud by his glowing eyes and claws, and the ordinary Devil Fruit weaknesses remain.

Notable Users

Patrick Redfield is the only wielder. He sought and ate the fruit to reclaim his youth, then drained the life-force of Yadoya and Luffy; the latter was left aged far beyond his years, with white hair, grayed skin, and a body too frail to fight well. In combat Redfield slashes and cuts with his wings and claws.

He obtained the fruit sometime after Marshall D. Teach freed him from Impel Down. Notably, despite the vampire framing, he never actually drinks blood, taking life-force instead. An SBS note also explains that the spelling Batto, rather than Bato, was chosen to stay consistent with Stussy's canonical Batto Batto no Mi.
