Appearance

Heavy muscle defines Gracie's frame, topped by spiky purple hair and dark eyes with a feline cast. Black tattoos run across his face. His wardrobe centers on a dark captain's jacket fitted with yellow epaulets, worn above black trousers. The most unusual detail comes from his Devil Fruit, which has left both of his hands as miniguns.

Personality

Gracie commands with cold cruelty and shows scant patience toward his crew. A win earns brief praise, yet failure leaves him dismissing the loser as weak and good for nothing, and he fights with brutal indifference to whatever gets wrecked in his path. One strange quirk steers him too: white things disgust him, milk and white bean paste alike, while he warms to black ones such as coffee and black bean paste.

History

The fruit Gracie consumed, the Ute Ute no Mi, is a Paramecia power that converts objects and even nearby terrain into rifles and cannons, and he has driven it to awakening. Pledged to Blackbeard, he set out to wipe away the surviving Whitebeard Pirates and earn his admiral's favor. His followers Neiro and Noir hover near to settle him whenever white food or objects provoke him, yet he answers their loyalty with contempt, calling them pathetic each time they are beaten.

In the Payback War he brought his crew in to reinforce the Blackbeard side against the Whitebeards, raising guns from the sea and loosing his Great Rifle and Great Cannon until Teach's arrival decided the fight. Convinced Whitebeard survivors lurked on Tomoshibi Island, the BIG Pirates landed and Gracie chose to recruit Germa 66 for the hunt. He broke up the celebration the Straw Hats shared with the locals, going after Luffy and the island guardian Hakuto, then withdrew once Franky blasted his crew apart.

Chasing the flame of Ace, he gunned Hakuto down, summoned Germa as backup, and faced Luffy head-on. He unveiled his awakening, blanketed the ground with cannons, and pounded everyone with Great Four-Way Firing, even dousing Ace's fire. The flame roared back when Luffy vowed to guard the island, and the captain at last fell to a Haki-charged Red Hawk that merged Ace's fire with the light of Hakuto's blade.
