Bomba (Marine)

A man of moderate build, Bomba is recognizable by his bushy eyebrows, scruffy stubble, oversized pink lips, a gourd-shaped head, and black hair standing on end. Across his chest the characters reading kaigun, the word for the Marines, are tattooed. On Punk Hazard he layered a long-sleeved top bearing that same lettering over spotted trousers, with a brown cloak hung across his back during his time on the island. The digitally colored manga renders both pieces blue, whereas the anime instead gives him a pink top and pale-blue jeans. His earliest anime appearance left out the facial hair and colored his hair brown.

Despite wearing a Marine uniform, Bomba had no trouble joining pirates in celebration, and he even wept when the time came for them to part. A streak of duty remains in him, so alongside the rest of G-5 he kept publicly condemning the pirates even while privately thankful to the Straw Hats. He holds Tashigi in near-worship, cheering her on and praising her as lovely, cute, and strong, even wishing he could become a child so she would dote on him the way she did the rescued Punk Hazard kids. His usual companion is Pike, with whom he shares both that admiration and a habit of appearing together in agreement. He also cares deeply for Smoker, breaking down and pleading with Doflamingo when he feared the commodore would be slain.

Bomba has shown no notable combat technique, though he slipped under Chappe's whip while battling the Centaur Patrol Unit, displaying quick reflexes. He first stood out cheering Tashigi during the Fishman Island Arc, then accompanied the unit to Punk Hazard after the distress call about a samurai. There he endured Law's assault on the ship, the mind swap between Smoker and Tashigi, the spreading Shinokuni, and a tense alliance with the Straw Hats and Sanji to evacuate the captured children.

Once Caesar was captured, Bomba joined the celebration, drew literal lines between himself and the pirates while still too ashamed to confess his gratitude, and later guarded the severed remains of Baby 5 and Buffalo with Pike. He was hurled back by Doflamingo's arrival, survived the Warlord's onslaught, and begged him to spare a bloodied Smoker before Kuzan intervened. In the Dressrosa Arc he and Pike secretly watched Tashigi tend the children, Bomba admitting he wished he were one of them before she ordered him back to work.
