Personality

Vain and grasping, Bounty craves the biggest reward ever recorded purely for the boast of it, fixated on driving his already steep figure up to a hundred billion berries. He is merciless enough to plot the murder of every king at the Levely, an act that would have plunged the world into chaos. True to the God of Jealousy title, he resents anyone stronger or more highly wanted than himself, and his stubborn, hot-tempered streak keeps him climbing back to his feet rather than conceding a fight. His Devil Fruit, the Bana Bana no Mi, converts that jealousy into flames and heat for battle, backing up raw power and stamina that let him hurl Luffy into the sea again and again.

History

Already carrying a one-billion-berry price on his head, Bounty hungered to multiply it a hundredfold. To that end he threw in with the Beasts Pirates and arranged to ship poison gas bombs built by Caesar Clown to the Levely, where they would wipe out the gathered monarchs. The scheme began to unravel after Igaram Jr. snatched Caesar away to the Straw Hats. Bounty and his crew tracked them down, and he flattened Luffy into the ocean while the boy reeled from Prize's power, then raided the Thousand Sunny, reclaimed Caesar, and set off for the Levely.

The Straw Hats gave chase, and round after round followed. Bounty briefly outmatched Luffy until Crocodile broke things up, then dropped to a Red Hawk only for Prize to goad him upright again, after which Zoro and Sanji knocked him back down. When the crew and Crocodile moved to disable Prize, who had just launched a bomb toward a ship full of fleeing kings, Bounty rose once more to defend his brother, hurling both Luffy and Igaram Jr. into the sea. With seconds left before the bomb struck, he crowed that the Straw Hats had lost, but Luffy's Gear 4 Boundman punch shoved him aside, clearing a path to strike Prize. Knocked senseless, Prize fell, and Bounty's plot to slaughter the kings came to nothing.
