Appearance

The banner this crew flew was styled as a comic likeness of their captain's head, complete with a trimmed-down version of his beard, beady dark eyes, a tiny black nose, a sour grin, an oversized brown headpiece, and a pair of crossed sabers framing the face behind it. Most of the men dressed alike before the timeskip, generally going topless while wearing loose trousers, cloth wraps knotted at the hips, and what looked like sizable wrestling belts. Following their rout by Basil Hawkins and their relocation to Punk Hazard, a large share of them had the lower portion of their bodies swapped for animal halves, turning them into centaurs or satyrs who then enrolled in the Centaur Patrol Unit. One recognizable follower with horn-shaped brows and flowing hair stood at Brownbeard's side both in his earliest scenes and after his transformation.

History

Once Whitebeard had fallen, the crew moved in and claimed Foodvalten for themselves. Their hold was short, however, as Basil Hawkins engaged and crushed them, leaving every member's legs ruined. The survivors and their captain narrowly slipped away and made for Punk Hazard, where Trafalgar Law used the Ope Ope no Mi to graft animal halves onto them, after which Caesar Clown took them into his service.

Grateful to the pair who had supposedly rescued them, the men obeyed Caesar and Law without question, right up until Brownbeard grasped the bitter truth: they were expendable test material for the scientist's work. His attempt to rebel and reclaim his crew was mocked by Caesar, who insisted the men no longer answered to their old captain. Caesar later admitted he had left the rest of the crew stranded outside the lab, where the lethal H2S gas would finish them. After Caesar's defeat, Vice Admiral Smoker let Brownbeard undo his crew's petrification before death took them, on the condition that he surrender to arrest afterward, which he accepted.

Abilities

The crew was hardy enough to endure the New World and even commandeer one of Whitebeard's islands, though only after the Emperor was gone. That strength meant little against Basil Hawkins, who overwhelmed them with ease. They sailed aboard the Charles Martel, a vessel whose fate after their capture by the Marines is unrecorded. Their combined bounty was at least 80,060,000 Berries, drawn from Brownbeard's own price.
