Appearance

Broad across the shoulders and heavily built, Gallant has long arms set above strikingly short legs. A big jaw, narrow eyes, and a trimmed beard mark his face. He dresses in a dark vest paired with spiked plates over the shoulders, pale gloves, a light skirt, and light footwear, topping it all with a pale helmet whose tall plume bends forward. A sword rides across his back, one whose dimensions and grip call Mihawk's blade Yoru to mind.

Personality

Gallant looked out for the safety of those he sailed beside, which explains the caution he showed toward Kouzuki Oden when the man first came aboard. He felt glad when Roger commended the entire crew ahead of announcing the breakup, and the loss of both Roger and Oden weighed on him heavily. Although a blade rests on his back at all times, he has yet to be seen wielding it.

History

For a span of no less than forty years before the present day, Gallant numbered among the Roger Pirates. On one stretch at sea the crew worked to persuade Roger to drop by Hachinosu and call on Shakuyaku; though a note she had earlier handed Rayleigh had left him sullen, Roger's confidence returned, and Gallant and the rest could see plainly that he wished to meet her. About twenty-six years back, while on a Paradise island, the crew overcame a Marine battalion right as the Whitebeard Pirates were spotted closing in. The two sides fought across four days, after which a gift exchange followed that Gallant took part in. After Oden's family came aboard the Oro Jackson, Gallant was among those who treated the newcomer coldly at first, only to warm into friendship as the voyages carried on. He watched Neptune lay out Joy Boy's Poneglyph en route to Fish-Man Island and sailed with the crew to Zou. He was present when Roger declared the crew would disband, weeping as Roger was dropped off and again as Oden was returned home to Wano. His fate beyond that point has never been revealed.
